If I live to be 100 I will never live this one down. I was a Navy wife and supervised a data entry section on base. Many of my employees were young, far away from home and didn't know anyone. So I always offered new employees a little tour of the area, lunch, etc. Usually on a Saturday. We had a sweet new lady that started working for my department, and she said she would love to go, but had a three year old daughter. I said, "no problem, I love kids, bring her along." Well, I just adore children especially since I couldn't have any of my own. I just love to kiss and hug them and spoil them rotten. All the way to the restaurant her little girl sat between us in the front seat. Her mom didn't say much, but the little girl was talking my leg off. Even while I was driving I would pat her little arm and hand. She was so soft and sweet, just a little baby doll. When I pulled up to the restaurant I looked over and my new employees' eyes were big as saucers. You guessed it: I hadn't been patting the baby... but the mother! We got past it, but oh my Lord... I will never forget the look on that poor lady's face! I wanted to crawl in a hole somewhere and die!
